Those magic words

We have been waiting for months for Ben to say those 3 little words we all long to hear. He said it once or twice last week, but tonight he was flowing with love you's.

Ben and I went back to the beach today for play group. I realized half way there that I forgot the camera. Ben spent some time getting his feet wet and playing in the sand. Once Emma got there and pulled out her snacks, he could have cared less about the water.
Ben is spending the day with Emma tomorrow. He seems to be very excited about the adventures they're going to have.

My poor baby!

Benjamin has had plenty of cuts and bruises, but last night, he got his first burn. We just got home and were walking around the car when Ben decided it would be fun to touch the tail pipe. He actually took it well. He wined more than cried and just kept saying, "hot" over and over. A lot of the redness was gone this morning, but he has 2 blisters, one of them seems huge on his little fingers. It doesn't seem to bother him, he's more curious than anything. We put some ointment on him and wrapped him up for bed time last night. I was surprised he actually left it alone after the initial investigation.

Welcome Ella Kay

Lindsey had her baby tonight. She is healthy and beautiful. She weighed in at 7lbs 12oz and has a full head of brown hair. Congrats to the Brewer family.

I came home from the hospital to an intense Lego session between Jon and Ben. I wish I knew what he was saying.

Beautiful day

We went back to the beach today for our Thursday play group. It was beautiful outside. It wasn't too hot and the waves were amazing. It was a little too choppy for Ben to go too far in the water, but he still had a great time with his friends and his Elmo cup.

Save the date.......maybe!

We had another doctors appointment today. Things are moving along as scheduled. I'm measuring 27weeks and will officially be 27weeks tomorrow. The placenta has moved up and she said my chances of preterm labor are slim. We have unofficially scheduled the delivery for October 15th (Wednesday). At our next doctors apt (8-20), we'll put it in the books. Assuming nothing major is going on at the hospital or with our doctor, we'll make 10-15 official. Of course, there is always the chance I'll go into labor before 39weeks. We're not going to worry about that right now though.

Fun fest

Every year, the Baptist Church at the end of our street has a mini festival for all the kids. Ben and Jon took a walk down to check it out this year. There was a lot of music, games and fun. I think Ben will do a little better next year. He didn't quite grasp putt putt and some of the other games, but he still managed to have fun.
Unfortunately, Jon and Ben came home to a brown out which quickly turned into a black out. Luckily, Ben managed to fall asleep before it got too hot in here so Jon and I played a game of Scrabble by candle light. It was a close game, but I managed to come out victorious. I usually insist on playing Scrabble because its one of the few games we have that I can actually beat Jon at!

Ben and I had a busy morning of shopping with grandma Saturday morning. We got a lot of great stuff for Spuds room. Ben managed to con grandma into some Elmo sippy cups. We all had fun and are grateful to grandma for taking care of our boys.

Saturday afternoon was Tates 3rd birthday party. Unfortunately, Ben slept through it. I was able to go and check out the excitement.

Spaghetti!

Jon always leaves for church before Ben and I to go set up his drums. When we get there, he's ready to find dadda and help him out with what ever Jon's doing.

Sunday night we had some friends over for dinner. We kept it simple with spaghetti. Ben had a great time trying to get it in his mouth. He's going through an independent phase and wouldn't let Jon or I help him at all.
Oren has been showing off a new expression. Its hilarious to see him do it so we couldn't resist putting on the blog.
We've had a busy couple of days moving furniture. We almost have a nursery started. Jon and our friend Dave cleared out the spare bedroom and converted it to the new closet. Ben and I are going shopping with my mom on Saturday to start making the nursery actually look like a nursery. We're down to 98 days till the due date. I think we'll actually be ready!

Day at the beach

Benjamin and I went to the beach today for play group. He loved it! When we were in Florida, he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Today, he was ready to go. He didn't even wait for me and only held my hand when he wanted to go a little further in the water. He ended up being covered in sand, head to toe. I think the beach is going to become a new hang out for us.

Kid Fest

Tonight was kid fest at one of the middle schools. The turn out was amazing despite a major rain storm. Some of it was a bit too advanced for Ben, but he still managed to find a few things to keep him occupied. Ben was such a hit tonight that he might get his picture in the Lakewood Sun Times. One of their photographers were there and thought Ben was adorable, but who wouldn't! Here are some highlights. More pics will be on Flickr.

Sunday picnic

Last night we had our monthly church picnic at Lakewood Park. We had a lot of food and fun. Unfortunately, my husband thought it would be a good idea to go play volleyball. (I hate volleyball). While he was playing, he dove for the ball and hurt his arm and ribs pretty badly. Its rough getting old!
Benjamin spent most of the night chasing around Hannah. She is probably around 10 years old and was great with Ben. I hope it wasn't a preview of things to come.

Another group from Arkansas came up early this morning to spend the week
with us. Members of Faith Baptist Church in Little Rock are going to spend the week volunteering at the city mission, getting to know Cross Point members, helping to put on Kids Fest etc. Tonight we had dinner with them at the church. It was a lot of fun meeting them and learning a little bit about their life in the South. Of course, I didn't have my camera last night or tonight. However, Prasti was kind enough to send some pictures from the picnic.

Happy 26th

Yesterday was our friend Lindsey's 26th b-day. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend the day with her family and friends. Unfortunately, we forgot the camera. Thanks for including us in your big day!

In Spud news, he officially has a real name. Of course, it wont be announced until his arrival, but I'm feeling good that we finally have something accomplished. We haven't done/bought anything other than the crib sheets. 3 months is still a lot of time, but I have a feeling that pretty soon we'll be wondering where all that time went. We decided yesterday that our closet room will become the nursery. Hopefully, we'll get some progress going.

Benjamin has been great this weekend. I'm hoping his Elmo obsession is slowing down. We'll let him watch Elmo in the morning and maybe before bed. He still asks for Elmo all day long, but doesn't go crazy when we say no. We're starting to let him watch The Mickey Mouse Club House every now and then. He loves dancing to the opening song.

Happy 4th, a day late!

We had a great day yesterday. It started with Ben letting us sleep until 7:30. Since he got his toddler bed, sleeping in is long gone! We headed to gram and paps for lunch. We were there with Aaron, Prasti, Emma and mammaw. We had a delicious lunch and Ben played until he could barely stand up anymore. Ben slept the entire ride home and for 2 more hours after we got here. After a quick dinner, we went to our friends, Todd and Debbies. They are right down the street from Lakewood Park and have a great view of the fireworks. We hung out with their family and the extended Brewer family. Once the fireworks started, Ben was in a trance. The word of the night was definitely Whoa!!! I couldn't believe how well Ben did for being up almost 3 hours past bed time.

Germ fest

When we went to visit Kyle, Aylah had a cold. Ben and Aylah played together, but did a decent job of staying far enough apart that I was hoping she would keep her germs to herself. Of course, shortly before we left, Aylah went up to Ben and gave him a big kiss on the lips! I new we were doomed. Ben slowly started getting sick over the weekend. His nose is the biggest problem. Its been running quite a bit. Other than some crankiness, it hasn't been too bad. However, now I'm sick! I'm pretty sure I got sick when I was pregnant with Ben, but I just don't remember it being this difficult. I called my doctor to verify what I can take. The top 2 meds were Tylenol cold and sinus and Sudafed. I couldn't just leave it alone and trust my doctor. I did the very thing I yell at all of our patients for doing---I looked it up on the internet. I found several articles that said, regarding Sudafed, "...only take this medication if the benefits outweigh the risks." Who in their right mind would take it after reading that???? I didn't see much regarding Tylenol, but I did find the 2 drugs you must stay away from while you're pregnant. They're long and hard to pronounce, so I'm not going to bother. Guess what Tylenol and every other decongestant contain....you guessed it, at least one of the 2 drugs you must avoid! I talked to a pharmacist who spent a lot of time looking up meds and going through the isle with me. Unfortunately, all she could come up with is Saline Nasal Spray. Are you thinking what I was thinking---whats the point? I got it anyway and as I suspected, its done nothing. So, I've taken over Bens crankiness and lack of sleep and am hoping it will run its course quickly. Poor Jon, who almost never gets sick, just called to say he feels it starting. We're going to load him up with meds and hopefully stop it before it starts.

Heres a cute pic of Ben pre cold.
P.S.
Huge congrats to our friends who are expecting another baby. Its in the water out here!
