Its a party

We had the family over last night for cake to celebrate Ellies birthday. Ellie was not interested in blowing out her candle or touching her smash cake, but she liked having daddy feed her some and feeding him a few bites!
Everyone was very generous. She got some handmade items like a bunny and headband (with matching shoes), clothes, a book bag, bath stuff and some toys. Shes already having fun taking her toys away from her brothers!
A rare sight: baby Cash not attached to Prasti!

Thanks for everything family. Happy New Year!

First birthday

51 weeks ago we got the call that we were going to have a baby girl. 2 extremely long weeks later we walked in the door with a tiny baby who didn't fit into any of her clothes. That tiny baby turned 1 today. I'm amazed at how quickly a year goes by. Maybe it feels like it went faster than it did because she just grew out of her 3 month clothes in September!

Nurse in

I participated in the nationwide nurse in at Target yesterday with my sister in law, a friend and another friend just there to support us. Prasti wrote a great post about it here. Since she summed up the day and the cause so well, I'm just going to refer you to her site. Thanks for posting Prasti.

Merry Christmas

My favorite part of Christmas are the traditions. We did things slightly different this year, but we kept a lot of our favorite traditions like:
New Christmas pajamas....
loving on aunt Corrie....
having dad read The Night Before Christmas....
a ridiculous amount of presents even though we swore we were cutting back this year....
watching the kids get so excited about presents....
the aftermath--not exactly a favorite, but I had to throw in a picture of Spider man....
nap time....
Merry Christmas.

Christmas plaid

The past few years, I've dressed the boys alike for some holidays. With the addition of 2 new babies this year, identical seemed a bit much. We settled for similar. We happened to find some red plaid for each kid. I don't think the kids noticed, but I thought they were adorable!
Merry Christmas!

Healthy

Zach had his 2 month check up today. He weighed in at 12.5lbs and is 23 7/8th inches. Both are in the 75%. He is holding his head up like a pro. He poops, eats and smiles at the wall. What more could we ask for?? I can't believe its been 2 months already. The boys are still so in love with him. Sam is constantly crawling on him to give him kisses and loves to rub the top of his head. Ben is also all about the kisses, but he also loves to take care of Zach. He puts blankets on him, makes sure he has his musical sea horse and makes sure Ellie doesn't attack him. Ellie is still warming up to him. Its best not to leave her alone in a room with him. Zach gets poked or slapped on the head pretty much every chance Ellie gets. I'm sure its just the beginning of a long love/hate relationship.

Santa

One of the things Jon and I did on our first date was to go look at Christmas lights. We have recreated our first date each year, but the past few years we have incorporated the kids and Santa. Its not quite the same any more, but it gets more fun each year. When we told the boys where we were going, they were thrilled! They couldn't wait to see Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. Each year we head to the crazy house with all the lights and the boys love picking out all of their favorite displays.
When it was time to see the big guy, Sam went right up and got down to business. Ben needed a little nudge, but eventually was happy to climb up and chat. Ellie was intrigued, but kept her distance.
Apparently we wore Ellie out with the visit. She fell asleep on the 2 minute car ride home from church on Sunday. She didn't flinch when Jon pulled her out of the car and stayed asleep on her mat until the boys woke her up.
Ellie is still working on walking. She is getting better at balancing but hasn't taken that first step yet.

She is also learning more "tricks." She has been clapping for a while now (but its always cute to see). She is also waving bye and gives kisses. We are still working on getting those on video.
Zach is getting better about all the screaming, but the nights are still rough. He goes in for his 2 month appointment this week so hopefully the doctor will have some words of wisdom.

Light up Lakewood

Every year Lakewood celebrates Light up Lakewood. They start the day with a Reindeer Run. I've participated for the past three years, although this year was a reindeer jog/walk. They have a bunch of events during the day and end with a parade and a lighting ceremony. The kids were excited about all the candy they got at the parade. Even though it was short, it was exciting. The lights part of the lighting ceremony were a little disappointing, but they had a decent fireworks display after so that made up for it. I think the kids had a fun night.
He always looks freaked out!
This was my favorite part!
