Sam had his 6 month check up yesterday. He is doing great. He is 18lbs and is in the 75% for weight and height. (Ben was 9months old when he weighed 18lbs)! His balance while sitting is great for his age and he is progressing perfectly. He is also doing really well with his sleeping. Most nights he goes from 9pm to 7:30am. He's been up a couple times around 5am to eat, but goes right back to sleep. I think that's phenomenal for his first week in his crib. While we were at the doctor, I asked her how much sleep Ben should be getting. With naps he should be around 12-14 hours a day. Most days Ben gets 8 or 9. (The boy just wont go to sleep)! Her response, "He'll make a great doctor someday."
I just couldn't resist posting this pic. They are too cute!
A couple weeks ago I heard Aaron and Prasti mention they were doing a March of Dimes walk this weekend. I've done Race for the Cure before and have thought about a leukemia and a few other walks, but have never got to them. I don't know if its laziness, my huge dislike of fundraising, remembering the personal reasons for wanting to do the walks...maybe all of the above. However, since I heard them mention March of Dimes, it seems like its been everywhere. All of the sudden its on the radio, billboards, commercials, casual conversation at the table next to us. Last week I read the story of Maddie Spohr which was on another blog I read. Every time I check back to their blog, I can't help but burst into tears. The fear of SIDS has reeked havoc on my mental well being for the past six months. I can't imagine what Heather and Mike Spohr are going through. I checked back on Prastis blog today and her post was about the walk. You have the option to donate or walk, and I think its about time I did something. Please check the link to the side if you are interested in donating or walking with us.
Each week (sometimes each day) I look at Bailey and wonder if she is the dumbest dog ever. If not the dumbest, definitely the most annoying! Just when we start to trust her to be alone in the house (not in her crate) she decides to chew something. We've gone through blinds, diapers (yes, the dirty ones), garbage, toys, even part of my breast pump! Each time, she gets put back in her crate when we leave until enough time has passed that we think she can be left out again. Last week we came home to a trail of chewed up something on the floor so when we went out Monday night, she was sentenced to the crate again. In keeping with her most annoying award, she decided it would be a great idea to bend the METAL bars of the crate, even breaking one off and creating a small hole for her to escape through. Of course, that gave her the opportunity to come upstairs and attack another diaper and the garbage. I didn't see any blood (like we have in the past) so I think she's ok...just annoying. Anyone want a dog?Yes, my 50lb dog got through that hole!
In happier news, Sam is in the middle of a big transition and is doing well. Since he was diagnosed with acid reflux, he has slept in his car seat every night. It was the only way he could comfortably sleep. Unfortunately, since he got used to that, he has only been able to sleep in the car seat or while being held. If we put him down somewhere, he would wake up after only 15minutes. His reflux seems to be gone so 2 nights ago, we decided to make the switch to the crib. He wasn't thrilled at first, but he only got up twice to eat and slept a total of 9 hours. Last night started the same with a feeding after 4 hours, but then he went for 7hours and slept until 8am. Thats 11 hours total!! Nap time didn't go as smoothly yesterday, but we'll keep trying.
Samuel actually sleeping somewhere other than the car seat!In Ben news, he's sick again. He woke up in the middle of the night after a sneeze and in his most pathetic voice he cried out, "I have boogers!" We wiped him off, but he's a sneezy, congested mess. Hopefully, it will move quickly so we can get out and enjoy the warm weather coming this weekend.
My son the clutz.I swear I don't beat him. Fortunately it doesn't look as bad in the picture. He got a minor black eye on Sunday and hit his forehead right above his eye on his bed last night.More Wordless Wednesdays here and here.
